LG's sweet Chocolate BL40, Specifications

The Chocolate BL40
is a 5-megapixel fashion phone with an ultra-wide 800x345-pixel LCD touch-screen display. And despite the number of unusual (and unneeded) models here to glam-up its christening, we're feeling cautiously impressed.
In terms of specifications, the BL40's 5-megapixel camera is only backed up with a simple LED flash. To be brutally honest, for a phone set to be used in clubs and bars, a Xenon flash would've been an epic win in terms of design. But it's got a proper 3.5mm headphone socket for listening to MP3s; a 7.2Mbps HSPDA data connection for downloading them; support for MPEG-4, DivX, and Xvid video formats; Wi-Fi; stereo Bluetooth; and A-GPS--all excellent strings to have on your phone's bow.

Nokia announces X6 and X3 music phones

Nokia World 2009 has brought us two new phones in the shape of the new X6 and its little brother, the X3.

Features include a 5-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and dual-LED flash, voice commands, a full Web browser with Flash Lite, Bluetooth, a personal organizer, messaging, a speakerphone, TV-out capability, a video and image editor, Assisted GPS, and 32GB of internal memory.

The X3 is a slider phone with a 2.2-inch display. It also comes in red or blue color schemes. Features include a music player, Bluetooth 2.1, stereo speakers, a microSD card slot, a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, voice commands, lighted effects, dedicated music keys, messaging, a speakerphone, and a personal organizer. Music transfer should be easy through a USB cable, the Ovi Player PC client, and Windows Media Player 11. The X3 runs Series 40.

Toshiba announced its own largest laptop hard drive

Toshiba announced its own largest laptop hard drive to date, the MKxx65GSX, which caps at 640GB

Though smaller in capacity, the new Toshiba hard drive has two advantages over the WD Scorpio Blue. First, it spins at 5400rpm as opposed to the 5200rpm of the WD, meaning it potentially has a faster throughput speed.
The new Toshiba drive also comes in the regular 9.5mm thickness and therefore will work in all applications where SATA 2.5-inch hard drives currently are used. The Scorpio Blue is 12.5mm thick and therefore only fits in laptops with a larger hard drive bay.

The new hard drive is built based on Toshiba's new 320GB-per-platter design which, according to the company, reduces power consumption and heat dissipation by more than 80 percent compared with 3.5-inch hard drives of the same capacity.

Nokia N97 mini

As the little brother to the Nokia N97, the smartphone actually isn't all that much smaller than the N97. The mini measures 4.4 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick (compared to the N97's 4.6 inches by 2.1 inches by 0.6 inch) and features a 3.2-inch tilting touch screen. It still offers a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard sans the directional keypad but judging by the press shots, it looks like Nokia didn't do anything about the wonky placement of the space bar.

Other highlights of the S60 5th edition phone include a 5-megapixel camera, 8GB of onboard memory with a microSD expansion slot, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Unfortunately, the announced version does not support North American 3G bands, but we suspect Nokia will launch a NAM version as it has with the N97 and several of its other smartphones.

Nokia Booklet 3G Price Revealed

Nokia announced its entrance into the netbook world , but decided to hold fire on revealing the full spec and pricing until the start of its Nokia World event.

A big part of the USP (unique selling point) of the Booklet is its claimed 12 hours of battery life, and thus independence from a charger for a whole working day. We'll believe that when we see it with our own eyes, but if it's true it's a major setback for the nascent ‘smartbook' market, which is hoping all day battery life will be one of its competitive advantages over Intel Atom based mini-notebooks
he device is 3G, WiFi, GPRS/EDGE ready and comes with Bluetooth with A-GPS support as well. The netbook 3G will be powered by Windows 7. As for the price, this one's got to be like one of the expensive netbooks out there as Nokia has revealed that this one will cost around 575 Euro (Rs. 40,000 approx.)

The OMH technology in Mobiles

The OMH technology is compatible only with the CDMA platform. Since the network settings for the CDMA handsets have shifted from the phone to the OMH SIM card. This shift has created a demand for phones that support OMH technology.
This OMH launch represents a paradigm shift in the dynamics of the CDMA ecosystem with consumers now having the flexibility to choose an operator at their will at any point in time. OMH empowers a CDMA customer as never before and will serve to fuel the growth in the CDMA handset market. We at Samsung are proud to be leading this innovation with Qualcomm and appreciate the support given by CDMA operators towards popularizing OMH.”

“At Samsung, last year we took the first step towards giving consumers flexibility in CDMA by launching our Mpower series handset to work with CDMA connections from operators Reliance Mobile, Tata Indicom and Virgin Mobile. Today, true to our ‘Next is What’ philosophy, we have taken a significant step forward with the launch of the OMH compliant Mpower 699,

The process to switch from the old R-UIM/SIM connections to the new OMH SIM cards is quite simple. This has further increased the popularity of the OMH technology. Moreover, the new OMH technology phones also support the older existing R-UIM/SIM for voice and SMS as well as data services. Apart from this, the OMH SIM also features backward compatibility. It supports all previously launched CDMA handsets that support R-UIM/SIM.

Casio introduces Exilim EX-Z450 and EX-Z90

Building on the success of the Casio Exilim EX-H10, Casio has made two new additions to the Exilim family. Dubbed as the Exilim EX-Z450 and EX-Z90, the main highlight of these cameras is the new intelligent AutoFocus feature that also detects non-human photo subjects along with human subjects, .

The EX-Z450 above is Casio's new Exilim Zoom flagship model,
but you'll be forgiven for confusing it for its predecessor the Z400. Their spec sheets are almost identical: both come with 4x optical zoom, 12 megapixel sensor, 720p / 24 fps video, and Exilim Engine 4.0 -- hell, even the max ISO setting is identical at 3200, and you can upgrade that 'for free' since nobody expects your highest settings to be usable anyway. What's new? An autofocus for the ages, apparently, as the sole difference is a new Intelligent AF feature that automatically adjusts focus and exposure for photographic subjects, human or otherwise. The Z90 shrinks those innards into a more portable package, but drops to 3x zoom in the process. The two cameras are expected in early October for $199 and $149, respectively. They'll be joined by the unpriced Z280 shooter that misses out on the auto-detect magic, but gains a wide-angle 26mm lens. Full frontal shots of each camera after the break.

Miyoshi TP-24G01 Wireless Keyboard with touchpad

Japanese company Miyoshi introduces the TP-24G01, a wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad. The TP-24G01 uses 2.4GHz wireless technology offering a range of 10 meters. Other than standard keys, the wireless keyboard includes also several media keys. It measures 403mm x 190mm x 26.2mm and weighs 850g

Technological innovations these days are certainly getting more distinct than ever. While we’ve seen many unique devices in the past, here’s one innovative keyboard. Thought it’s no Logitech diNovo or Asus keyboard, it’s a pretty eye-catching one from Miyoshi Japan. Dubbed as the TP-24G01, this wireless keyboard sports a rather interesting and attractive design.
Incorporated with a touchpad, the keyboard now aims to help users control the cursor movements without a mouse. That’s right! Located on the right part of the keyboard’s inventive body is a unique touchpad. The keyboard thus claims to eliminate the use of a mouse, reports PCLaunches.
In addition to this, the keyboard also houses a few media hot keys. They appear to offer direct access to applications like web browser and email. The keyboard can be plugged to the computer via a simple USB connection. Sporting wireless capabilities of around 2.4GHz, it also claims of a slider control on the left hand side. It is packed with basic functionality; whether it adds to the users’ comfort factor is not known yet.
There’s no word on a US or worldwide release, though it’s already available in Japanese stores for an affordable price of $108.

The screen measures 50 inches and due to the large field of view on the cameras, other size screens can also easily be switched in place unlike the previous versions which used a smaller field view.

Mercedes Benz unveiled the new B-class Fuel-cell model in Germany

Mercedes Benz. It unveiled the new B-class Fuel-cell model in Germany recently. The car, which is a zero emission car, is the first model in the series of Hydrogen fuel cell cars from Mercedes.
Its performance is quite comparable to a 2.0-litre petrol car and is fully suited for everyday driving. The zero-emission drive system consumes the equivalent of 3.3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres in the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle)
The new model does not compromise on boot space or leg room either. It is fully equipped with all the safety features and comfort as other fossil fuel models. Apart from the luxuries, the new model has been designed such that the customer does not have to compromise on driving experience due to its electric motor which delivers peak performance of 100 kW and a maximum torque of 290 Nm.

The car has an extremely efficient and high performance fuel system where gaseous hydrogen reacts with atmospheric oxygen at 700 bar to generate a current for the electric motor. The car even has cold-start capability.

LG Crystal Mobile Phones GD 900

LG are proud to unveil a new touch sensation, the LG GD900 Crystal. The transparent Crystal Touchpad is used like a mouse pad allowing you to glide, stroke and navigate with ease. Surfing the internet is effortless with high–speed browsing and it’s simple to edit photos taken with the 8 megapixel camera.

The transparent numberpad looks, to me anyway, rather cool, and there is no denying, even if you don't like it, that it is innovative. There are lots of touch control niceties here and on the screen. You can get through content such as photos by sweeping a finger horizontally across either the screen or the numberpad. Sweeping upwards opens an information screen telling you, for example, when a photo was taken, its resolution and file name.

Perhaps a bit more interesting is LG's Gesture Control, which is located on the numberpad, which, by the way, LG calls the Transparent Touchpad.

LG again uses its S-class 3D user interface in the Crystal. This comprises four main screens you finger-sweep on either the screen or Transparent Touchpad to get through. Dedicated to favourite contacts, multimedia, shortcuts and widgets, all can be customised. Whichever of the four you are on, links to the main menu, phone dialler, contacts and messaging are always present on a strip along the bottom of the screen.

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000

The Microsoft wireless Laser Desktop 6000 tries to make computing comfortable with its ergonomic design, and also compliments your need for style with its neat looks and great design.

The Laser Desktop 6000 comprises of a keyboard that is based on Microsoft’s Comfort Curve Design; keys have been placed in an ergonomically approved curvaceous design to give your fingers the perfect position and comfort for long hours of work. The keyboard is Windows Vista Aero inspired, and that is why Microsoft has incorporated a few dedicated Vista Aero shortcut keys. The keyboard has a semi transparent border, much like the Aero windows in Vista.
Apart from the basic keys, the keyboard features loads of shortcut keys, with one-touch access to Windows Flip, Zoom, Mail Client and even 5 programmable keys that you can set according to your preference.
wireless mouse uses laser technology, which gives it a more precise control as compared to an optical mouse. The tilt wheel allows it to scroll both horizontally as well as vertically. If you are looking forward to a gaming solution, then this will not disappoint you with its responsive mouse, but you might find the keys to lack tactile feedback.

BMW released today the official details and photos of the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, a “new revolutionary concept car with BMW EfficientDynamics technology.

the new concept uses a a three-cylinder turbodiesel and two electric motors and the total output is 262 kW/356 hp, maximum torque 800 Newton-metres/590 lb-ft. All-wheel drive featuring an electric motor on both the front and rear axle. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is made in just 4.8 seconds while the top speed achieved is limited at 250 km/h (155 mph). Fuel consumption is impressive: 3.76 litres/100 km (equal to 75.1 mph imp), CO2 emissions 99 grams/kilometre. As a plug-in hybrid, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is able to cover the entire fuel consumption drive cycle under electric power alone. Taking the sources of energy used for generating the electric power consumed into account (EU electricity mix), this reduces the CO2 emission rating to just 50 grams per kilometre. Electric power is generated without the slightest increase in fuel consumption through a particularly efficient concept of Brake Energy Regeneration. Energy is stored in 98 lithium polymer cells. The car is able to cover a distance of approximately 50 km/31 miles in the electric mode alone. The impressive performances are also available due to the drag coefficient optimised to just 0.22.

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic going to be released in India

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic's smaller successor, the 5530 XpressMusic, is all set to make its India landing in the not too distant future. The phone, which is set for a global launch by month end, might just see a simultaneous launch in India. The phone can be termed a scaled down, better looking version of the 5800 XpressMusic.
The feature set is identical to the 5800 XpressMusic. However, some differences include the smaller screen and the slightly updated software. Unlike the 3.2-inch screen of the 5800 XpressMusic, this one is slightly smaller at just 2.9 inches. The resolution, however, remains the same at 360 x 640 pixels. Internal memory too has been reduced for 80MB to 70MB. The RAM on both phones remains the same at 128MB SD RAM. The reduced size does not really seem to help the 5530 shed weight which at 107 grams is negligibly lighter than the 5800 which tips the scales at 109 grams. Perhaps the main difference between the two is the non availability of 3G support in the 5530.
