The third new technology from Honda for today is the world's first i-SRS airbag for the driver.

The third new technology from Honda for today is the world's first i-SRS airbag for the driver. The new Honda i-SRS airbag manages to continuously stage the volume of airbag-inflating gas which reduces the impact with the occupant in case it deploys. The Honda i-SRS airbag will be launched in November this year.

The new Honda i-SRS airbag offers three key features: a faster deployment, a longer period of inflation and protection and a reduced impact with the driver.

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that it has developed the world's first driver-side i-SRS airbag system that continuously stages the volume of airbag-inflating gas, thereby combining enhanced occupant protection with reduced occupant impact. Honda plans to implement the new continuously staged inflation i-SRS airbag system on the driver's side of the Life minicar to be released in Japan .
A Honda innovation, the new i-SRS airbag system features a spiral-shaped seam structure and gas release control valve to control airbag deployment and pressure for faster deployment, reduced occupant impact and a longer period of inflation and occupant protection. As a result, the new system accommodates a broad range of occupant positions and potential collision situations.

G-Force Safety Control Technology

G-Force Safety Control TechnologyThe Insight body is reinforced in key areas with an extruded-aluminum frame that helps protect its passengers from different kinds of impacts.

Upper lower-frame members project forward and to the rear of the central passenger compartment and absorb impact energy by progressively collapsing
Lower side sills, crossmembers, A-pillars and windshield frames surround the passenger compartment, forming a rigid structure that resists deformation

At the heart of this design is a newly developed Honda technology called G-Force Control Technology, or G-CON. G-CON optimizes each part of the Insight's aluminum body and frame to best absorb a specific type of impact. The cabin floor, for example, forms a strong and rigid foundation, designed to minimize deformation in an impact. Outside of this area, the surrounding aluminum frame members have been tailored to control impact forces.

.The HYBRID SYNERGY DRIVE

A hybrid system combines different power sources to
maximize each one’s strengths, while compensating for each other’s shortcomings. A gasoline-electric hybrid system, for example, combines an internal combustion engine’s high-speed power with the clean efficiency and low-speed torque of an electric motor that never needs to be plugged in.

The HYBRID SYNERGY DRIVE power unit integrates the advantages of an electric motor and a gas/petrol engine.
It is not merely a package that has an electric motor and a gas/petrol engine on board.
Toyota applied cutting edge technologies based on latest research to integrate dual power sources in the most ideal way.

Ordinary powertrains waste energy at stoplights, during braking, and all other times the engine is not running at optimum speed under ideal load conditions. By reducing energy wastage and applying energy more efficiently, a hybrid system can simultaneously double fuel economy, slash emissions, provide quiet operation and deliver “fun to drive” performance.
New-generation Prius,
This contains an inverter that converts DC from the battery into AC for driving the motor. Its high-voltage power circuit raises the power supply to 500V, up from 274V in Toyota’s first-generation hybrid system.

Maruti-Suzuki’s 1 Lakh car : Suzuki Cervo

Suzuki Cervo
Maruti-Suzuki has been denying the fact that its looking forward to compete with TATA motors on the Nano project. But it seems they have changed their mind, considering the fact that competitors are giving out better vehicles. They recently organized a rural car fair in Singur smack in the heart of TATA Nano’s national production base. The idea was to simply put on show the company’s vast product portfolio and shell out the good deals to hook buyers picking up on the strong loyalty base it has built up over the past few decades. Interestingly, In the three day fair, Maruti-Suzuki sold 20 cars.

TheCivic comes equipped with G-CON Technology

Trust the Honda safety standards to let your exhilaration stay uninterrupted. The Civic comes equipped with G-CON Technology, an advanced passive shielding that offers the occupant a survival zone in case of an unavoidable collision.
In 1998, Honda first announced that it will be pursuing a new vehicle collision safety technology called G-Con, short for "G-Force Control." The standards incorporated into G-CON are constantly updated to benchmark against many of the world's toughest crash safety regulations as well as against data collected from real-world accidents. G-CON’s purpose is to control the impact energy (‘G-Force’) of a collision and reduce injuries to the vehicle occupants. Since then, all Honda vehicles developed from a new platform is designed with G-CON technology for optimum passive safety performance. As of to date, the G-CON test includes:
a) 55km/h full frontal collision
b) 64km/h frontal offset collision
c) 55km/h side collision
d) 50km/h rear collision

Honda's G-CON technology has come a long way since its inception in 1998. In the early days of G-CON, most crash tests are done in a controlled laboratory environment, against static objects and thus many variables that affect a vehicle's real-world crash performance are not evaluated. One of the main problems with real world collisions is the huge disparity between weight, dimensions and body types of different vehicles on the road. When vehicles of different weight and size collide, the vehicle's passive safety features may not work as intended. Differences in vehicle designs may cause the colliding vehicles to either under-ride or over-ride, limiting the vehicle's frames to properly absorb / disperse impact energy. This is particularly serious in a collision between a small hatchback and a large sedan / SUV. Even on a collision between two exactly same vehicle models, the differences in their ride height due to the number of occupants on board / vehicle's actual weight is sufficient to cause the two vehicle's crash members to be out of alignment with each other, causing under-riding / over-riding.

Toyota to launch its hybrid sedan, Toyota Prius in India

Toyota has now confirmed that they are most certainly going to launch their Prius model in the Indian market in the coming years, making it the second hybrid car in India, first being the Honda Civic hybrid.
The Prius is completely redesigned into a mid-size liftback which is between the Corolla and the Camry in size. The new Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) uses an all-electric compressor for cooling. Air conditioning is operated independently of the gasoline engine, an industry first. The Prius is the most fuel efficient car that Consumer Reports has tested giving a real-world fuel consumption of 5.35 L/100 km. The Prius’ onboard GPS navigation system (as well as other models, such as the Lexus, which use the same technology) is designed so that destinations cannot be entered while the vehicle is in motion. According to the owner’s manual, this is done for the driver’s own safety

The safety features include, Driver and front-passenger Advanced Airbag System, Driver and front-passenger front seat-mounted side airbags and front to rear side curtain airbags, Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) with Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, Traction Control (TRAC), Engine immobilizer, Rear-seat Child Restraint System (CRS) lower anchors and top tether brackets (LATCH), 3-point front outboard seatbelts, Front seatbelt pretensioners with force limiters

Honda after launched the new Accord v6 said its ‘Jazz’ hatchback would hit the Indian roads by middle of this year,

Honda after launched the new Accord v6 said its ‘Jazz’ hatchback would hit the Indian roads by middle of this year, though the compact car would trail the “Honda City” sedan in terms of sales volumes.
The Jazz will be a premium segment hatchback and we do not expect that it will overcome the sales numbers of the City sedan in India. The Jazz is priced higher than the City in many foreign markets, including Thailand, but still manages to sell more. He said he was not worried about the premium tag associated with the Jazz. The price or premiumness will be determined by the customer. We are confident that the model will be well accepted in IndiaThe company also launched the advanced version of its premium sedan Accord with a 3.5 litre i-VTEC engine, priced between Rs 24.8 lakh and Rs 25.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Jazz will sport a 1.2-litre petrol engine and will be competitively priced for the Indian market and get the premium tag due to the company’s focus on making it luxurious and safe by adding features like
- Airbags,
- ABS (anti-lock braking system)
- G-CON Technology (an advanced passive shielding that offers the occupant a survival zone in case of an unavoidable collision).

BMW Working on Collision Prevention System

BMW is developing a system to bring a car or truck to a complete stop (safely) if the driver loses control because of health-related problems.

BMW isn’t the only company fast-tracking advanced collision-prevention systems. Volvo is working on a system called City Safety (which we tested at the New York auto show in April), and Mercedes-Benz will soon offer Attention Assist, which makes sure the driver isn’t losing attention, as a standard feature in new E Class and S Class cars. Attention Assist, said Robert Moran, a Mercedes spokesman, “monitors parameters based on steering behavior, use of controls and other measures that will tell” if the driver is losing attention.

Telescopic Forks Suspension

A motorcycle fork connects a motorcycle's front wheel and axle to its frame, typically via a pair of triple trees. It typically incorporates the front suspension and front brake, and allows the bike to be steered via handlebars attached to the upper triple tree.

The fork and its attachment points on the frame establish the critical geometric parameters of rake and trail, which play a major role in defining how a motorcycle handles and dives during braking.

Combi Brake Technology in Honda Activa

Combi-Brakes will apply the front-brakes in the correct amount whenever rear brakes are applied, so it will apply both brakes when you apply only rear one. This means that the scooter rider need not worry about using front brakes, they will be used in correct amount automatically when the rear brakes are used. See the image above, the highlighted green area shows how they have put an extra-cable to brake lever control of Honda-Activa 2009 to make combi-brakes work.
